The cheeseburger has become an American favorite over the years, and why shouldn’t it be? It has everything the quintessential good old fashioned American meal calls for: cheese, meat and carbs all wrapped up in an easy-to-eat package. This finger food even has a holiday named after it, National Cheeseburger Day, which is September 18. So today try this fun take on the age old recipe! As always, all of our recipes are designed to be prepared with union-made ingredients and support good jobs.

Ingredients (purchase from your local unionized grocery store):

1 tomato
1 ½ LB of ground beef
1 package of cheddar cheese (Alta Dena, Horizon, Tillamook)
1 package of hamburger buns (Country Hearth, Oroweat)

1.    Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions and form into patties
2.    Make indentation in 4 of the patties and fill with cheddar cheese
3.    Take the remaining hamburger patties and place on top of the patties with cheese so that you have 4 large hamburgers total
4.    Pinch the edges and shape as needed
5.    Grill on medium high for 10-15 minutes or until done
6.    Top with a slice of tomato and place on a bun
